Main duties of the job

* ECG recording
* Chaperoning duties
* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
* Cleaning, decontaminating and maintenance of surgical equipment
* Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
* Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
* Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
* Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
* Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
* Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
* Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
* Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Job responsibilities
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our team at Sutton Road Surgery. In this role, you will provide direct support to our clinical team and help deliver high-quality care to our patients. You will assist with routine clinical tasks, patient assessments, and offer vital support to our doctors and nurses.
* Patient Care: Assist with basic patient care tasks, including taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.) and performing basic health checks.
* Clinical Support: Assist GPs and nurses during consultations and procedures, including preparing medical equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
* Specimen Collection: Collect and process patient samples (e.g., urine, blood), ensuring proper documentation and handling.
* Admin Support: Help with patient records, appointment bookings, and general administrative tasks.
* Patient Education: Provide patients with health advice, instructions for procedures, and pre-appointment guidance as directed by clinical staff.
* Infection Control: Ensure infection control procedures are followed, maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
* To be able to use EMIS
* Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, or in a similar role within a healthcare setting, is preferred.
* Good communication skills and ability to interact with patients in a friendly and professional manner.
* Basic understanding of clinical procedures and patient care.
* Ability to work efficiently in a busy, team-oriented environment.
* A compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care.
