Assistant Transport Planner – Sheffield (2–4 Years’ Experience)
£30,000 – £38,000 + Benefits | Sheffield | Hybrid Working
We are supporting a respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Sheffield that is looking to expand its Transport Planning team with a talented Assistant Transport Planner (2–4 years’ experience). The team works on a strong pipeline of regional development, transport strategy and active travel projects across Yorkshire and the Midlands.
The Role
You’ll support senior colleagues in the delivery of:
1. Transport Assessments & Statements for planning submissions
2. Travel Plans, sustainability/access strategies and active travel inputs
3. Junction capacity modelling (Junctions 9/10, LinSig)
4. Trip generation, TRICS assessments and survey analysis
5. Development access and swept-path checks
6. Feasibility studies and early-stage transport appraisals
7. GIS mapping, data analysis and technical reports
8. Liaison with local authorities, clients, and design teams
What You’ll Bring
9. 2–4 years’ experience in transport planning / development planning
10. Clear technical writing and analytical skills
11. Experience using some of the following:
Junctions 9/10, LinSig, AutoCAD, TRICS, TEMPro, GIS
12. Understanding of the UK planning process and planning policy
13. A collaborative mindset and good communication skills
14. Degree in Transport, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or similar
