The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Exeter is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the research team of Dr Khushboo Borah Slater. The successful candidate will work on pathogens causing tuberculosis and Q-fever in humans, participating in current research projects on Coxiella Burnetti and Mycobacterium tuberculosis to investigate host-pathogen interactions for identification of novel targets for drug discovery.
The main objective of this post is to conduct research on human pathogens using microbiology and molecular biology techniques and application of metabolomics and fluxomics to interrogate intracellular metabolism of the pathogens.
Summary of the role
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in microbiology or Biomedical Sciences or related discipline and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
Further Information
The starting salary will be from £34,610 on Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience. The deadline for applications is 23:59 on 21 October 2025.
