We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join our Design team based in Glasgow. Our 100-strong Construction Engineering capability brings together a team of talented civil, structural and geotechnical engineers from a range of backgrounds, combining complex analysis, spatial design and an eye for the practical to deliver buildable solutions on site. We specialise in reimagining permanent designs to make them more buildable, designing temporary works and traffic management solutions, advising on the procedural management of temporary works, construction materials, ground engineering and surveying.

Location and Hours
Location: Glasgow
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of construction engineering services.
* Ensure technical compliance of designs to client remit, legal requirements and company policies.
* Lead the development of fee proposals and organise the day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff.
* Oversee the production of design deliverables, including calculations, drawings, reports and design risk assessments.
* Identify and assess technical value engineering opportunities and implement them with suitable approval.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with client, design and site teams.
* Represent the project at client and progress meetings from remit development through to lessons learned.
* Manage financial and commercial aspects of the project with support of Engineering and Commercial Managers.
* Monitor progress against agreed programme and budget, maintaining documentation and providing regular reports.
* Provide early warnings on issues such as significant overspends as soon as they are apparent.
* Review monthly invoices prior to issue and seek feedback from clients to capture lessons learned.
* Drive continuous improvement within Kier Design.
Qualifications
* Completed IEng Initial Professional Development or CEng equivalent progress with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE) and practical industry experience.
* Hold Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications with significant relevant experience.
* Proven experience of designing temporary works.
