The Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher role is ideal for educators who excel in compassionate settings and are skilled at delivering personalised lessons that foster both the emotional wellbeing and academic progress of students facing SEMH challenges. As an SEMH Teacher, your responsibilities will include: Planning and delivering tailored lessons across multiple subjects that prioritise engagement and accessibility. Establishing a safe, structured, and welcoming classroom atmosphere. Assisting students in building social, emotional, and behavioural competencies. Collaborating effectively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals. Applying therapeutic and trauma-informed strategies to manage behaviour constructively. Tracking student progress and adjusting instruction to align with EHCP goals. Skills & Requirements for SEMH Teacher: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Prior experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is greatly preferred. Knowledge of attachment theory, trauma-informed approaches, and restorative techniques. Excellent communication skills and effective behaviour management abilities. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
