Mental Health Services nationally are undergoing a significant transformation under the Community Mental Health Framework. Maidstone MHT+ Team forms part of the West Kent Community Services. It is a diverse multi-cultural team that is looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinic Nurse to work within the team, providing specialist mental health care for people with multiple and complex needs that require intensive support and to take a lead role in the depot clinic under the supervision of our Lead Nurse.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the highest standards of physical health care for service users; supervise, teach and develop the physical health care skills of junior team members; act as a positive role model for all staff and lead in areas of clinical practice and development.
* Run a clinic with physical health monitoring (e.g., ECGs, Venepuncture, Pochi Machine operation) and escalate physical health concerns to appropriate staff.
* Manage medications administration and perform physical health checks with a strong emphasis on monitoring and reporting at regular intervals.
* Carry out and coordinate comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments that consider mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors, in partnership with the service user and others.
* Write tribunal reports and attend CPA and Tribunal meetings as required.
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines, service users, and carers to develop holistic, person-centred care plans addressing identified needs.
* Deliver and evaluate safe, person-centred care in partnership with the service user and their carers to support recovery.
* Act as a clinical leader supporting best practice in line with NICE guidance.
* Facilitate and review approved Quality Improvement initiatives within the care setting.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Effective communication skills and good self-governance.
* Knowledge of high-level interventions and community nursing skills.
* Existing qualifications relevant to the post or willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
