An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Specialist Nurse to work as part of our Paediatric multidisciplinary team at both the Chichester and Worthing Child Development Centres.
The Specialist Nurse role involves using advanced clinical skills and expert knowledge to assess, diagnose, and support children and young people with complex needs who are known to the Child Development Service. Training and professional development will be provided to support your ongoing growth and to meet the required skills, knowledge, and competencies for this role.
This position is suitable for applicants interested in contributing to the Neuro-Developmental pathway and developing skills in supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Condition and their families.
1. Contribute to service development, protocols, pathways, monitor workload, and implement service improvements and team objectives.
2. Conduct assessments of individual children and their families, including post-diagnostic support for complex conditions.
3. Apply clinical judgment to determine nursing care needs; plan, deliver, evaluate, and record care independently for relatively stable cases.
4. Coordinate and liaise with multidisciplinary team members, delegate tasks, and influence decision-making processes.
5. Promote health through broad programs and initiatives.
6. Organize and lead training sessions for children, young people, parents, and families.
7. Assist in policy development and care strategies, providing advice to junior nursing staff on clinical matters.
8. Initiate interventions to improve family resilience and mitigate risks, responding appropriately to children with disabilities and their families regarding adverse life events and the impact of health history, mental health, and parental lifestyle on the child's development.
