Job overview

This is a six month interim post for a senior role reporting directly to our Executive Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer (EMD/CMO) and will play a key role in driving forward our vision to deliver outstanding mental health, learning disability and autism services and shaping our inclusive culture in line with our Trust values.


Main duties of the job

Through highly visible medical leadership, you will play a lead role in the development of activities specifically in areas of Research, Quality Improvement, patient safety, appraisal and revalidation, development of clinical leadership, supporting workforce development and embedding a culture of leadership and innovation through all levels of the organisation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality mental health, learning disability and autism services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop. You will be a highly visible, proactive and compassionate clinical leader with extensive senior management/professional leadership experience; a highly skilled communicator with abilities and experience to develop effective partnership working with a range of agencies and other stakeholders.

The post holder will also hold a clinical post within the organisation. For those who may be applying internally, you will already be holding a clinical post; for those applying externally, we have a variety of clinical posts which will complement this role across Older Age, CAMHS, Working Age and Rehabilitation services. Qualifications


Essential criteria

* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register
* Qualified Medical Professional with MRCPsych
* Evidence of Continuing professional and personal development


Desirable criteria

* Teaching or leadership qualification


Experience


Essential criteria

* Experience of medical management in a senior leadership position of a complex organisation
* Experience of contributing to the corporate development of an organisation including the development of its strategy and business plan
* Experience of leading and managing service transformation and change with a proven trackrecord of achieving improvement in quality and safety
* Experience of providing professional leadership and managing professional conduct across an organisation
* Evidence of successfully developing and implementing quality assurance systems, safety, risk management, infection control and governance strategies
* Evidence of successfully developing and implementing service user, carer and public involvement strategies
* A track record of partnership and influencing health and social care system change at a local level, producing tangible outcomes through influence and relationship management
* Experience of building and leading a well performing team with emphasis on innovation, quality improvement, productivity and efficiency and achievement of quality, safety, financial and operational targets.
* Experience of representing an organisation to external stakeholders and partners including the media
* Experience of developing an organisational culture that promotes clinical engagement in decision making and leading continuous improvement, encouraging the use of new clinical and service technologies
* Project management experience
* Financial and Budget management
* Ability to interpret national policy, and design and implement complex strategies
* Experience of providing specialist advice when required to executive directors
* Broad clinical experience
* Experience of working across systems


Desirable criteria

* Preferably NHS
* Previous experience as Associate or Deputy Medical Director
* Well-developed digital skills


Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Developing policies and strategies
* Understanding of National Strategies and their application for medical staff
* Expert knowledge of safeguarding, infection prevention, compliance, clinical governance, risk management, improving patient safety, experience and clinical effectiveness
