Location: Candidates must be based in or near Aberdeen, Grimsby, or Lowestoft
Working Arrangements: Hybrid combination of office, vessel based in port, occasional offshore/at sea with some flexible home working

Are you a seasoned maritime professional with a passion for training and assessment? Do you have a strong background in rescue, first aid and casualty care, and experience leading teams at sea? We're looking for dedicated individuals to join our expanding business and growing team as Competency Assessors / Trainers, supporting the development of excellence across the maritime sector.
About the Role
As a Competency Assessor / Trainer, you will:
* Deliver high-quality training and competency assessments in maritime rescue operations and first aid
* Support the development and evaluation of operational personnel across a range of maritime disciplines
* Ensure training aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements
* Provide constructive feedback and guidance to learners to support continuous improvement
* Work flexibly across staff and ad hoc contract engagements, depending on availability and demand
Ideal Candidate Profile
We're looking for individuals who bring credibility, leadership, and hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will have:
* A seagoing background in the offshore energy industry, military, RNLI, emergency services or other search and rescue organisations
* Command experience in operational maritime environments
* Strong working knowledge of rescue, first aid, casualty care, and emergency response procedures
* Experience in training delivery, competency assessment, or instructional roles
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Relevant qualifications in training, assessing, or first aid (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Qualifications
* A recognised education and training qualification
* First Aid certification
* Assessor qualifications (e.g., OPITO, A1)
* Train the Trainer
* STCW or other maritime safety certifications
Location Requirement
To support operational needs and reduce travel time, candidates must be based in or near Aberdeen, Grimsby, or Lowestoft.
