Overview

Fife Council's Litigation Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor to provide legal support to Fife Council in litigation matters, including child protection, permanence, adults with incapacity, adult support and protection, mental health, education, housing, debt recovery, HMO and employment. You will be part of the Litigation Team responsible for managing your own caseload and representing the council in a variety of matters. The role offers a blended working arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. Travel to and attendance at office locations, meetings, court and Tribunal appearances may be required.

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: FC9 £45,990.00 - £55,263.09

Working Pattern: Hours per week

Location: Based in Glenrothes

Responsibilities

* Provide legal support to the council in a range of litigation matters across various services.
* Manage your own caseload and represent the council in a variety of matters.
* Collaborate within the Litigation Team to deliver litigation services to client services across the council.
* Develop and apply existing knowledge or learn new skills in relevant areas.
* Occasionally travel to attend office locations, meetings, court and Tribunal appearances as required.


The Person / Requirements

* Experience in general litigation and licensing is desirable; experience in all areas is not essential.
* Hold a Law Degree (LLB) and a Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent.
* Be a qualified solicitor or eligible to hold an unrestricted Practising Certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
* Ability to work under limited supervision with well-developed communication and IT skills.
* Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure through Disclosure Scotland.
