Stores Technician
Stockport, UK
Role Summary:
In this role of Stores Technician, you will ensure the smooth flow of parts and materials that keep high‑precision laser products moving through production. You will manage goods in, kit picking, stock accuracy and stores operations, and you support sub‑assembly teams as needed. Your work directly supports engineers building world‑class laser systems.
The business
At Novanta, Stockport, we design and manufacture solid‑state and ultrafast laser sources used globally in laboratories and integrated systems. Our products are known for reliability, performance and long operational life. They support applications across life sciences, advanced manufacturing and research.
What you will do
1. Receive and book in goods using Sage (purchase orders and MRP).
2. Pick and issue kits and parts to production and development teams.
3. Maintain accurate stock records, system locations and warehouse movements.
4. Support stocktakes, non‑conformance logging and stores requisitions.
5. Follow QC, ISO, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
6. Support chemical cleaning activities, unpacking before cleaning and repacking and labelling after.
7. Liaise with purchasing to maintain appropriate stock levels.
8. Keep the stores area organised, clean and compliant.
9. Support sub‑assembly teams when required.
10. Complete other tasks aligned to business needs.
What you will bring
11. Experience in a similar stores, materials or production support role.
12. High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
13. Practical problem‑solving ability.
14. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
15. Confidence using MS Office and Sage 200 Manufacturing or similar MRP systems.
