Job Overview
Activity Facilitator for Akenside Ward, a 10‑bed functional assessment and treatment ward for older people. Provide social, recreational and meaningful activities to patients during hospital stay. Work with nursing and multidisciplinary team to deliver group and individual sessions.
Main duties
* Contribute to an activity‑based culture on the ward.
* Plan, implement, evaluate and record social, recreational and leisure activities in line with treatment plans.
* Co‑ordinate a timetable of activities with qualified nursing and occupational therapy staff.
* Work with individual service users on delegated areas of their treatment plans to support recovery.
* Monitor, evaluate and modify service users’ interventions to measure progress and ensure effectiveness.
* Assist in the ongoing risk assessment carried out by the MDT.
* Ensure an appropriate environment and appropriate equipment are available for activities.
* Receive regular supervision from an identified supervisor within the ward team.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience demonstrating skills acquired in a care setting.
* Knowledge of a range of leisure/creative technical activities.
Education and Qualifications
* Formal qualifications such as NVQ Level III, or willingness to work towards equivalent knowledge.
Skills and Competencies
* Recent or current experience working in a mental health setting.
* Leadership skills and ability to self‑motivate.
* Experience training others in tasks or skills.
* Involvement in group‑based interventions.
