Financial Controller / Management Accountant | Spire Manchester Hospital | Full time | Competitive Salary
Spire Manchester Hospital is looking to recruit an experienced individual to join their Finance department as a Financial Controller / Management Accountant, on a full time and permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the Finance Director with the financial running of the hospital, by assisting with the provision of financial / commercial data and analysis.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Day to day responsibility for managing and overseeing the tasks of the Business Office, including the direct line management of approx 7 FTE
2. Prepare group reports, forecasts, KPI’s and commentaries. Support the development of the annual business development plan
3. Month end preparation and closure, including revenue and cost capture, accruals and prepayments, reporting within designated central timelines
4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, primarily Heads of Departments
5. Support clinical teams and non-finance managers with appropriate financial and commercial reporting
6. Maintain detailed understanding of hospital cost base and revenue sources
7. To facilitate a secure, accurate and confidential payroll service to the site, linking in with central functions
8. Ensure robust financial controls are in place to guarantee the integrity of financial reporting and all reporting is in line with regulatory guidance
9. Provide information for audits and internal reviews as required
10. Identify ways of improving hospital profitability and opportunities to improve existing processes
11. Provide financial input into the development and launch of profitable new services to drive growth, constant review of existing practices to determine efficiency in an ever-shifting environment
12. Monitor cost centre financial performance vs AOP and forecast to control costs and drive bottom-line results, implementing Spire ways of working through all financial processes

15. Excellent analytical skills with a good eye for detail
16. Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Presenting information to non-finance managers
17. Advanced excel skills essential (vlookups, pivot tables) and SAP knowledge preferable
18. Have varied all round management accounts experience including budgeting and forecasting, as well as completing month end duties without assistance
