Job Description:
The service manager is responsible for coordinating staff and resources to ensure high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. They ensure the welfare of service users and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within a legislative framework, promoting values and care ethos, and managing multiple supported living projects and community activities for adults and children of Lynton Community Care. The service manager reports directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Referring, assessing, and developing personalized care and risk management plans in collaboration with the care team, family, and advocates.
* Maintaining good communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act, Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
* Overseeing environmental health, infection control, and health and safety legislation adherence, conducting risk assessments, fire checks, and maintaining a safe environment.
* Collaborating with CIW to understand and meet Fundamental Standards, and fulfilling statutory notification obligations.
* Managing legal and statutory documentation, maintenance records, and insurance/enrollment documents.
* Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
* Recruiting, inducting, and training staff; promoting a culture of openness and honesty.
* Holding regular staff meetings, supporting staff development, and conducting supervision sessions.
* Building positive relationships with staff, managing disciplinary processes, and handling staff scheduling, absences, and holidays.
* Managing medication ordering, booking, disposal, and auditing.
* Overseeing budgeting, expenditure, and financial monitoring, including petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
* Safeguarding service users and handling safeguarding issues.
* Managing applications and compliance related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, working with paid personal representatives to ensure legal care plans.
* Being on call out of hours for advice, guidance, and incident response.
* Participating in supervision, CPD, strategic decision-making, and business growth activities.
* Performing additional duties as assigned by the Director, including financial management and report writing.
The role requires skills and qualifications to support both adults and children living with learning disabilities.
