Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide specialist support in a Primary Pupil Referral Unit in Longsight, Manchester.
Main Duties
1. Support for pupils
2. Work with groups of children under the supervision of the teacher.
3. Supervise and support pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
4. Provide regular feedback on children's progress to the class teacher and maintain records.
5. Attend to children's personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, hygiene, minor first aid, and welfare matters.
6. Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
7. Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
8. Supervise whole classes occasionally as required.
9. Support for Teachers
10. Liaise with other schools and bodies to gather information.
11. Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities.
12. Provide support through pastoral work and mentoring.
Contract/Position Details
* Location: Longsight – M13
* Position: Level 2 Teaching Assistant

* Duration: Whole academic year (until July 2025)
* Contract type: Temporary to Permanent
* Full-time: Yes, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Previous Experience / Requirements
* Experience working with children/young people with SEND, behavioural difficulties, and complex learning needs.
* NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Ability to use relevant technology (e.g., photocopier).
* Understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and behaviour management strategies.
* Knowledge of support services/providers.
Eligibility Criteria
* Right to Work in the UK.
* Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service or willingness to process a new application.
* Two professional child-related references.
Additional Notes
A teaching assistant Level 2 may provide cover supervision for a group or whole class, contributing to planning, assessment, and reporting as needed.
