The Role
We are looking for an experienced butcher to ensure all butchery work meets the required standards of quality, value and hygiene. You will deliver excellent customer engagement, support colleagues and management, and help drive your team to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve targets.
£13.15 per hour
Your Key Responsibilities
* Prepare a range of cuts to customer and company specification.
* Provide hands‑on advice and training to colleagues on butchery activities.
* Greet and serve customers, sharing your product knowledge and helping them get the most from their purchase.
* Prepare and maintain the counter and pre‑pack areas to the highest hygiene standards.
* Carry out stock rotation, price reductions and product sampling.
* Receive deliveries and complete the required paperwork.
* Distribute special offer materials and support general store operations.
* Support the management team in the day‑to‑day running of the store.
The Ideal Candidate
* Proven butchery skills gained in a retail or manufacturing environment — solid, hands‑on experience in the trade is essential and non‑negotiable for this role.
* Good knowledge of food safety and legal requirements.
* Previous experience supervising or mentoring others in a butchery or food production setting would be a significant advantage.
* Strong customer service skills with a drive to achieve sales targets.
* A natural motivator who can guide and support a team on a daily basis.
* IT literate with strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently on own initiative.
