Role Overview

A large, inclusive and forward-thinking primary school located in Fulham Broadway is seeking an experienced and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism, anxiety, learning difficulties, and additional needs, with a particular focus on secondary transition and inclusion support.

This role is designed for an SEN professional who understands that pupils with SEN often require targeted emotional, organisational, and social support as they move towards the later stages of primary education. Many of the pupils supported in this role are academically capable but face barriers linked to anxiety, executive functioning, sensory needs, or social communication difficulties.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils feel confident, regulated, and prepared for the expectations of secondary education while ensuring they remain fully included in school life.

About the School

The school is based in the Fulham Broadway area and serves a diverse, vibrant community. Inclusion is deeply embedded within the school’s ethos, and SEN support is carefully structured and well resourced. The school places a strong emphasis on preparing SEN pupils not only academically, but also emotionally and socially for the next stage of their education.

The SENCO and inclusion team work closely with Teaching Assistants to deliver targeted interventions, transition support, and personalised strategies. Teaching Assistants are seen as integral members of the inclusion team and are involved in planning, observations, and review meetings.

The school benefits from:

* A clearly defined inclusion and transition framework

* Strong collaboration between SEN staff and class teachers

* Access to external professionals supporting transition and wellbeing

* A calm, organised school environment

* A leadership team that values SEN expertise

* Helping pupils develop organisation, independence, and self-management skills

* Supporting emotional regulation and anxiety management

* Assisting pupils with understanding routines, expectations, and changes

* Supporting access to the KS2 curriculum through structured scaffolding

* Encouraging positive peer interactions and social confidence

* Supporting pupils during unstructured times where anxiety may increase

* Working closely with class teachers to ensure inclusive lesson delivery

* Liaising with SENCOs regarding transition planning and pupil progress

* Observing and recording progress to inform SEN reviews

* Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

This role requires a calm, encouraging approach and a strong understanding of the challenges SEN pupils may face as they prepare for secondary school.

-----------------------------------

The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:

* Has experience supporting SEN pupils in KS2

* Understands autism, anxiety, and executive functioning difficulties

* Can promote independence while providing structured support

* Is calm, professional, and emotionally intelligent

* Can build respectful, age-appropriate relationships with older pupils

* Works well as part of an inclusion and SEN team

* Is reliable, organised, and committed to long-term SEN work

Experience supporting pupils through school transitions is highly desirable.
