As a Housing Adviser, you'll provide a quality service to meet the needs of customers seeking assistance with safeguarding victims and survivors of domestic abuse, engaging in homeless applications, completing referrals for sanctuary installations, and attending partnership meetings.
This role is within the Leeds Housing Options Domestic Abuse team, responsible for carrying out homeless applications for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and supporting safe accommodation moves. Responsibilities include conducting homeless applications, attending Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences, and liaising with partners to support sanctuary measures and refuge referrals.
The post holder will manage a portfolio of approximately 150 emergency and supported housing units commissioned by the Council as temporary accommodation for homeless people. They will oversee the re-housing process to ensure swift placements, minimize placements, and control costs, liaising with services to determine referral suitability.
Standard Housing Advisor functions include offering housing advice to prevent or relieve homelessness and assessing housing needs and duties according to statutory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 emergency and temporary accommodation units.
2. Ensure swift move-on from temporary accommodation, overseeing the re-housing process.
3. Maintain day-to-day contact with service providers.
4. Provide regular updates on placements and move-ons.
5. Deliver face-to-face and telephone housing options services.
6. Manage a caseload of homeless and housing need cases.
7. Conduct assessments and write decision letters in accordance with legal frameworks.
8. Liaise with supported housing providers to secure suitable temporary accommodation.
9. Assist clients in accessing private rented options, mediation, Sanctuary funding, and other support services.
10. Prepare applications for Homeless Prevention Funds.
11. Supervise and manage staff as required.
12. Support quality assurance and develop partnerships with relevant organizations.
13. Attend meetings and undertake other duties as necessary.
