Description Assistant Fleet Compliance Coordinator - Ref: EE15625 G5: £28,598 - £31,022 per annum Location: Walsall Council Environmental Depot, 200 Pelsall Road, Brownhills, WS8 7EN. Contract: Full-time, Annualised Hours (37 hours per week, Monday to Sunday) We are seeking a proactive and organised individual to join our team. This role is central to supporting the smooth operation of our Fleet Services, including workshop management, MOT testing, driver compliance, third-party contractors, and customer relations. You will play a key role in ensuring fleet compliance, operational efficiency, and excellent service delivery across the council and Clean & Green operations. This is an annualised hours contract with flexibility required to meet operational demands, including early starts, end-of-day coverage, and lunchtime support. Bank holidays are contractual, with payment at basic rate plus time off in lieu. A casual car user allowance applies. Key Responsibilities Fleet Services Support: Assist with fleet compliance, quality audits, and driver checks Support transport operations, including vehicle use, defect reporting, and tachograph monitoring Assist in MOT test centre administration, including cash handling, card payments, and maintaining records Support the management of third-party contractors and suppliers Contribute to service planning, project groups, and continuous improvement initiatives MOT Testing Station Duties: Ensure MOT operations meet legal and industry standards Maintain records of test methods, equipment, and staff qualifications Monitor compliance and investigate complaints regarding testing standards Taxi Testing & New Driver Assessments: Monitor taxi compliance and report breaches Manage diary bookings and documentation for new taxi driver assessments Ensure stock compliance for taxi testing Finance & Administration: Collate and report financial performance, assist in procurement, stock control, and order management Handle payments and reconcile income from fleet activities Maintain records in Fleetwave, Oracle, and other management systems Customer Service & Communication: Provide high-quality, customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders, including drivers, staff, suppliers, and the public Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels Promote a learning culture and support staff development Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and legislation Assist in managing risks, accidents, incidents, and providing necessary training and equipment Skills & Experience Required Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills (Microsoft Office, Fleetwave, and bespoke systems) Ability to analyse and interpret complex information Experience in administration, customer service, or fleet operations Knowledge of transport legislation, MOT testing, and compliance standards is desirable Ability to manage competing priorities and work flexible hours Strong interpersonal and communication skills What We Offer Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunities for continuous professional development Exposure to a variety of fleet and transport operations View Job Description and Employee Specification Important note: When completing your online application form, you will be asked to enter supporting information.
