About the role
We are on the lookout for a Procurement Manager to join our Distribution and Fulfilment team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager in the largest logistics and distribution operation in the UK! Working within Distribution & Fulfilment category, you will work closely with internal colleagues and external partners to meet Tesco Group Secondary Distribution and MHE requirements covering Tesco, Booker Retail and Cash & Carry & One Stop. This role drives value for money and efficiencies through the procurement life cycle, as well as partnering with colleagues to ensure that Tesco has a robust strategy balancing the needs of the business.
You will be responsible for
* Develop and deliver sub‑category plans aligned to Category Plans by being curious, innovative and pragmatic in collaboration with numerous cross‑functional colleagues.
* Deliver high savings targets through implementation of robust sourcing events, ensuring that suppliers meet all operational requirements whilst providing the best value for Tesco, aligning back to category plans covering both Opex and Capex spend.
* Deliver cost‑saving plans contributing to Save to Invest targets, consistently track and report on savings targets with forecast accuracy working to the agreed processes.
* Create RFP/RFI’s/e‑auction through to conclusion with attention to ensuring open and fair completion throughout the process.
* Forge strong working relationships internally and develop new and existing supplier relationships to influence and ensure continued suitability, creating greater value across the organisation.
* Review existing and potential new suppliers and assess their suitability to supply Tesco group, minimise risk and optimise service, driving strong SRM by leading/participating in supplier reviews.
* Create, review and negotiate contracts. Be the point of contact for contract‑related matters.

You will need
* Strong commercial competence and negotiation skills.
* Great interpersonal skills and experience of cross‑functional working and stakeholder engagement.
* Experience working in a large‑scale organisation, running large multi‑million‑pound sourcing events and multiple projects simultaneously.
* Consistent track record of delivering change through influencing and challenging the norm, while bringing new concepts, innovation and ideas to life.
* Continual improvement mindset.
* Ability to influence senior colleagues.
* Supplier relationship and workload management skills.
* Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification preferred or being worked towards.
* At least 3 years’ procurement/buying experience, preferably within supply chain, logistics or distribution.
* Enthusiasm, curiosity and resilience.
