Senior Estimator - Social HousingJob Summary:
The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in ensuring cost-effective building practices within the social housing sector. They are responsible for estimating costs, managing budgets, and overseeing procurement processes. This position is offered on a fixed-term contract (FTC) basis for 6–12 months, with a salary range of £44,000 to £45,000.
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Analysis:Accurately estimate the cost of construction projects related to social housing.Analyse data to prepare budgets and subsequent valuations.
2. Procurement and Material Management:Procure subcontractors, materials, and goods following established procedures.Implement a payments system for subcontractors and material suppliers.
3. Budget Control and Site Costs:Preparemercial cost appraisals and feasibility analyses.Monitor site costs and budgets throughout development.Ensure cost overruns are within tolerance levels.
4. Site Development Support:Collaborate with site development teams to achieve targets.Contribute to conceptual designs/options for site valuation.
5. Team Management:Manage the work of the surveying team.Provide clear guidelines and support for team members.
6. Ensurepliance with group IT systems.Report to themercial Director in a standardised format.
Qualifications:
7. Proven track record in a similar role or at the level of Quantity Surveyor.
8. Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
9. The ability to gather, interpret, and present data effectively.
