Overview
The Christie lab, led by neuroscientist Isabel Christie, focuses on the metabolic regulation of the mammalian brain, particularly gas homeostasis and oxygen regulation, using MRI and two-photon imaging in animal models. The role is a 12-month research assistant position with potential progression to a PhD based on performance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Order and track consumables
* Assist with in vivo physiology and pharmacology experiments
* Support pre-clinical MRI experiments
* Prepare pharmacological solutions
* Handle animals and learn microsurgery skills
* Perform other duties as required
Person Specification
Applicants should have a BSc in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related field, and demonstrate interest in PhD studies, hypothesis-driven research, and software proficiency (ImageJ, Matlab, GraphPad Prism, R). Experience with Github, cardiovascular research, and Open Research initiatives is desirable. Diversity and inclusion are valued.
