Job Summary
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join the Outpatient Department in the heart of East London. The role is part of the nursing team providing high‑quality emergency care for patients. The ideal candidate will be safe, competent and confident in performing a wide variety of activities indirectly supervised by a registered nurse. We are looking for enthusiastic, confident and self‑motivated nurses who possess excellent communication skills and enjoy a challenge.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a safe and clean environment in line with infection control and risk policies.
* Assist in the preparation and examination of patients and the accurate collection, storage and processing of specimens.
* Demonstrate knowledge of care procedures and clinical observations that are consistent with NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Deal with enquiries, concerns, complaints from patients and visitors in a courteous, timely and relevant manner; inform a senior member of staff of actions taken or refer the enquiry to a more appropriate member of staff when necessary.
* Provide care with due regard and respect to the patients’ customs, culture and preferences.
* Perform pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and phlebotomy, recording and reporting competently.
* Record and monitor vital signs, recognise abnormalities and know when to report findings to the appropriate senior member of staff.
* Assist with the orientation and induction of new members of staff.
* Operate within Trust policies, procedures and standards.
* Be supportive and co‑operative with team members.
* Act in accordance with the Trust Code of Behaviour.

Essential Education & Qualifications
* Care Certificate – evidence of completion.
* Basic education including GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
Desirable Education & Experience
* Working towards NVQ level 3 or extensive experience in an acute health‑care setting.
Essential Knowledge & Understanding
* Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues.
* Ability to assist in the development of others.
* Ability to identify and develop own knowledge and skills.
Desirable Knowledge & Understanding
* Understanding of gynaecological disorders and patient needs within this speciality.
Personal Attributes
* Understanding of the Trust values.
* Ability to be punctual and efficiently manage time.
