PMG Services is seeking an experienced, dynamic and driven Transport Operations Manager to lead and develop our Road Sweeper and Tanker operations based at our brand-new, purpose-built facility at Severn Beach with in-house zero to landfill recycling plant and brand-new vehicle maintenance workshop. This is a key leadership role with long-term progression and the opportunity to broaden into all areas of the business.
The Role
As Transport Operations Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for a mixed specialist fleet, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of services. You will play a central role in driving operational excellence while developing people, systems, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall management of Road Sweeper, Tanker and Waste operations
* Operator licence responsibility - ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence, DVSA, FORS and
* Leading, motivating, and developing drivers and operational staff
* Planning and Managing specialised customer jobs and ensuring delivery is to a high standard of safety and quality
* Management of Waste Carrier Licence compliance,
* Driving improvements with vehicle utilisation, maintenance planning, and defect reporting
* Monitoring KPIs relating to safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost control
* Working closely with senior management to support business growth and service development
* Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across transport and wider operations
* Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence CPC (with refresher within last 2 years)
* Proven experience managing transport operations and commercial fleets
* Strong working knowledge of transport compliance and operator licence requirements
* Confident leadership and people management skills
* Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
* Full UK driving licence
Highly Desirable
* IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH
* Experience with specialist vehicles (e.g. sweepers, tankers, or similar plant), drainage, waste or construction sector
