Job Title: Senior Home Risk Pricing Manager

Reports to: Head of Home Underwriting & Pricing 

Location: Bexhill/Leicester - open to homeworking with willingness to travel to Bexhill and Leicester on occasion

Role overview

To deliver our ambitious profit and growth targets for home, through the use of innovative analytics, which leads to segmented pricing changes that we can apply to our live rates. 

Key Responsibilities

1. You will be a senior Band 4, with 3 managers reporting directly into the role and 4 analysts reporting into them, and the role is expected to grow as the home business and the team grows

2. Analysing various data sources (including loss, policy, quote and market data), to identify opportunities to improve our risk pricing to help deliver the ambitious growth targets we have for our Hastings home business 

3. Developing & delivering new insight, including the integration of new data, new innovative techniques and ways of working 

4. Working closely with Actuarial, Data Science, Underwriting, Data Engineering, Account Management, Retail and Counter Fraud / Digital teams 

5. Critically review technical models produced by actuaries and data scientists 

6. Analyse the above models to determine the optimal way to combine these model outputs to give a starting point for our pricing 

7. Analyse the models to identify segments where prices can be improved 

8. Create tools that enable us to source new pricing leads on an automated basis 

9. Own the overall pricing algorithm for home 

10. Representing the home team on various pricing projects to generate value for the wider business 

11. Support the team through peer reviews, coaching and mentoring 

12. Ensure that we are meeting customers’ fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes for our customers. 

Essential skills/experience:

13. Strong numeric and problem-solving skills 

14. Strong Analysis and coding experience. Python preferred, but if experience is with other coding languages, then this can be trained up 

15. Comfortable working with and analysing numerical/statistical data 

16. Appetite to learn new skills 

17. Thirst for making change 

18. Inquisitive, curious nature 

19. Thinking outside of the box 

20. Critically evaluates information 

21. Enthusiastic, positive attitude 

22. Collaborates well with colleagues from own team and other teams 

23. Good communication skills, written and verbal 

24. Confidence to express thoughts and views 

25. Good knowledge of the personal line's insurance market preferred, but other backgrounds will be considered, including non-insurance backgrounds
