Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one full time locum Specialist Doctor in Psychiatry with our H&F North and South Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) for six months with potential to extend to one year.

South MINT –6 PAs working based at Claybrook Centre; North MINT- 4PA working based at Fulham Palace Road. The MINT model is aimed to better meet individual needs with MDT by developing good relationship with the local Primary Care Network (PCN). This is a transformed services and the workload assessment is based on current patterns of referrals as well as existing caseloads combined. There are 5 PCNs (primary care networks) in Hammersmith and Fulham and each of these is supported by an MDT. One whole time Consultant Psychiatrist is allocated to each of the PCNs.Within each team, there is a whole team approach to caseloads. The post is created as there is a 6PA vacancy unfilled in South MINT and the need to backfill 4PA in North MINT as the team consultant has taken up the clinical lead of the service. (There will be another 8PA consultant in South MINT and 6PA consultant in North MINT)

You will be expected to establish, develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues in the Primary Care Network as well as in secondary care mental health teams, the Local Authority and Community & Social Enterprise. You will also facilitate smooth transitions into and out of the service through relationships with other relevant services.

Essential criteria

1. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable criteria

2. MRCPsych
3. Additional clinical qualifications
4. Qualification or higher degree in clinical research or management

Eligibility

Essential criteria

5. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
6. GMC Specialist Register or within six months
7. Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
8. Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
9. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Academic skills and lifelong learning

Essential criteria

10. Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
11. Excellent written and oral communication skills
12. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
13. Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
14. Ability to work in and lead team
15. Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
16. Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes

Desirable criteria

17. Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation
18. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit or service improvement e.g. prizes or awards
19. Evidence of improving patient outcomes through service change or audit

Clinical knowledge

20. Excellent clinical skills
21. Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
22. Excellent knowledge in speciality

23. Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
