The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join us on a permanent basis. We need talented individuals to apply their software development and data engineering skills to solve problems with data across various critical UK sectors.
We aim to ensure that Leidos stands out in an increasingly popular market by providing creative solutions using innovative design, implementation, and testing of systems and services focused on scalability and sustainability.
What will I be doing?
You will work closely with the Data Architect, Senior Data Engineers, and fellow Data Engineers as part of a team. Our team includes seasoned experts and intermediate-level engineers. It is a great environment to utilize your skills, learn from others, and be part of a high-performing team.
Responsibilities include:
* Working in an Agile team of Data Engineers
* Building, maintaining, and operating data environments in the cloud
* Debugging and resolving data processing and analytics issues
* Proactively evaluating and developing tools and technologies to improve data platforms
* Supporting data integration and processing processes
* Collaborating with engineering, testing, and DevOps teams
* Supporting project planning, risk identification, and mitigation
* Supporting migration of test and sensitive production data
* Providing third-tier support for operational systems
What does Leidos need from me?
* Expertise in SQL programming, especially PostgreSQL (PL-SQL a plus)
* Experience resolving SQL performance issues
* Experience with AWS Database services such as RDS, Aurora
* Experience leading a team of Data Engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment
* Ability to estimate task effort and dependencies
Additional advantageous skills include:
* AWS Aurora or similar RDS managed databases
* Familiarity with DB2 and Oracle
* Scripting experience (e.g., Python)
* Experience with AWS Data Migration Services (DMS)
Clearance Requirements: This role requires obtaining and maintaining DV clearance.
