Responsible for scientifically supporting the cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) service and physiological measurement techniques associated with it. To coordinate and deliver the CPET service alongside Consultant Anaesthetists leading the clinics. To support management of the CPET research database and research projects within perioperative medicine. Responsible for understanding and ensuring the technical, scientific and accuracy of physiological measurement techniques applied to CPET and producing accurate outputs of the tests. You will undertake training within the disciplines of physiological measurement associated with CPET, contributing to an existing or a new professional registration.
Main duties
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To support Consultant Anaesthetists in delivering an efficient and cost-effective CPET service
2. Participate in the education and training in the discipline of physiological measurement related to CPET and preoperative testing
3. Develop and support research associated with physiological measurement within anaesthesia, critical care and perioperative medicine

Person Specification
Qualifications
* First degree in related science
* Professional registration
* Documented evidence of good clinical practice and continued professional development
* Post graduate qualification in related discipline
Knowledge
* Knowledge of clinical measurement technology
* Understanding of processes and procedures for medical research projects
* A good understanding of human anatomy / physiology
* Understanding of software safety and quality assurance
* Knowledge of signal analysis methods
* Working knowledge of Statistics
Training and Experience
* Experience of working in a clinical environment
* Experience of undertaking clinical, physiological measurements
* Experience of research and development
* Presentation at scientific meetings
* Experience in clinical instrumentation with proven record of clinical / patient contact
* Record of publication in scientific journals
* Experience or demonstrable training in CPET
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to analyse and interpret exercise physiology data
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to keep accurate documentation
* Competent in Microsoft Office applications
