Renewables Sales Negotiator
Permanent Northampton/Ipswich/hybrid CL6
Closing Date – 12 May
Who we are:
We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals. You’ll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We’re enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.
About the role:
* Negotiate directly with renewable energy generators and Third‑Party Intermediaries (TPIs) to secure competitive Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in line with agreed commercial margins.
* Prepare and deliver accurate, timely and commercially sound quotations to both direct customers and TPIs.
* Drive strong customer retention while proactively identifying and converting new business opportunities through direct and indirect sales channels.
* Build, develop and sustain effective relationships with developers, generators and TPIs to support long‑term business growth and collaboration.
* Monitor competitor pricing, propositions and market activity, providing actionable insights and feedback to management.
* Communicate market trends, pricing movements and product information clearly and confidently to customers and TPIs, supporting informed contracting decisions.
* Work collaboratively with the wider sales team, operations and other internal stakeholders across DES to achieve shared commercial objectives.
* Maintain an accurate and robust sales pipeline, delivering regular performance and forecasting updates to management.
* Ensure full adherence to internal processes, governance and regulatory requirements to maintain commercial integrity and compliance.
Who we’re looking for:
* Proven experience in a B2B sales environment, with a strong track record of winning new business and succeeding in a target‑driven role.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport and develop lasting, trusted relationships.
* A solid understanding of the UK energy market, including the key drivers behind pricing movements and market fluctuations (or a strong desire to deepen this expertise).
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage workload effectively, balance competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
* Strong IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to analyse data and support commercial decision‑making.
* A collaborative mindset, comfortable working cross‑functionally with multiple teams to deliver an outstanding customer journey and positive commercial outcomes.
Rewards and benefits:
* Discretionary bonus depending on company performance
* Private Healthcare
* SAYE (ShareSave): discretionary scheme from time to time
* Personal accident cover
* Group personal pension plan where we’ll pay up to 10%
* Holiday 25 days plus bank holidays
* Reimbursement of the cost of the annual membership of one relevant and appropriate professional body
