Process Design Engineer
Location
Grangemouth (other locations may be considered)
Purpose of the Role
As a Design Engineer you will be an important member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Design Managers and Leads to deliver high‑quality process design complying with GT process, BMS and H&S Regulations. The role is technical, engaged directly on projects, requiring proficiency in design delivery in the water and wastewater industry. You may also have line‑management responsibility for graduate/assistant engineers.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide technical compliance and quality on design outputs.
* Assist the project team in seeking optimal solutions and efficient designs that balance capital and operational cost benefits.
* Adhere to procedural governance.
* Ensure scheme designs meet client specifications and standards.
* Ensure full compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Problem‑solve throughout the project life cycle, identifying, mitigating or managing potential issues via technical governance and risk management.
* Support pre‑contract design activities where required.
* Advise progress toward accreditation with professional bodies (e.g. IChemE).
Person Specification
* Proficient liaising with client and supply chain to develop best process solutions.
* Proficient in Process Calculations, Mass Balances and Hydraulic Calculations.
* Proficient in preparing Process Block Diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs.
* Proficient in developing Process Control Philosophies and Process Commissioning Plans.
* Degree level in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
* At least 4 years’ experience in Water and Wastewater industries.
* Chartered or Member of a professional Engineering body – preferable but not essential.
* Proficient in a contracting/consulting environment, with commercial awareness.
