Complex Care Teaching Assistant – Mary Elliot Academy (Walsall) Location: Walsall, WS2 Type: Full-Time / Long-Term Salary: £88–£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing The School and Role ABC Teachers are seeking a compassionate, reliable and resilient Complex Care Teaching Assistant to support pupils at Mary Elliot Academy, a specialist SEND school in Walsall working with young people with PMLD, SLD and ASC, many of whom have complex physical, medical and sensory needs. As a Complex Care Teaching Assistant, you will provide high-level support to pupils requiring assistance with mobility, communication, sensory engagement and personal care. You will work closely with class teachers, therapists and medical professionals to ensure pupils are supported safely, respectfully and with dignity throughout the school day. This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in care, healthcare, support work, nursing, residential care or SEND, or those looking to build a long-term career in specialist education. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex needs Support personal care, feeding, toileting and hygiene where required Assist with moving and handling (training provided) Support sensory-based learning and communication activities Work alongside teachers and therapists to deliver individual care and learning plans Maintain a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment The School Environment Mary Elliot Academy provides a highly specialised learning environment for pupils with complex SEND needs.
