Job Summary
Guildford Ward is looking for motivated, adaptable, forward‑thinking and enthusiastic Band 6 Sisters/Charge Nurses with excellent communication skills and the motivation to develop and progress their management skills in our purpose‑built, bright and modern environment. We recruit nurses passionate about providing and supporting the delivery of high‑quality, safe and evidence‑based care in our 20‑bedded unit. We are dedicated to training and developing staff, encouraging close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting Band 6 nurses as practice supervisors and assessors to develop junior staff and promote professional learning and development. Responsibilities
* Deliver patient care on a daily basis, being an expert in all areas of nursing care from admission to discharge.
* Serve as nurse in charge, holding overall responsibility for day‑to‑day management of the clinical area and ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records.
* Manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence‑based, patient‑centred care of a high standard.
* Assist the senior sister in the management of staff, including appraisal, rota planning, recruitment, selection and supervision of learners.
* Provide advice and support to patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team. Utilize clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching to monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.
* Maintain leadership on the Trust’s values and behaviours.
* Assist in the management of the unit on a day‑to‑day basis by appropriate deployment, delegation and supervision of all grades of staff.
* Act as a team leader on shift, facilitate improvement in the quality of healthcare for patients, help provide a conducive working and learning environment, and support the senior sister to promote evidence‑based nursing practice within the department.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse Part 1 or 12.
* Recent post‑qualification or equivalent experience in an acute or emergency setting.
* Demonstrates professional updating of knowledge in the past two years.
* Teaching qualification ENB 998 or City & Guilds 730 or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* A first degree.
