Salary details for both posts - Grade G £37,366 - £41,418 per annum
It’s an exciting time to be joining our Public Health team! We have recently been awarded Government funding to expand our work as part of the Smokefree Generation programme and are therefore looking for a number of dynamic and passionate individuals for a variety of roles in our team.
Advanced Public Health Practitioners
The role of Advanced Public Health Practitioner (APHP) is an excellent opportunity for people aspiring to develop a career in public health. APHPs work collaboratively on specialist local public health programmes, providing support, expert advice and leadership. The roles will support the development, implementation, and delivery of public health improvement programmes to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities.
To be successful you will need to be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and passionate about health and wellbeing improvement. You'll be keen to develop and expand your skills, curious, flexible, an excellent communicator, collaborative, adaptable and able to work both independently and in teams.
We have two posts available:
Post 1 - Advanced Public Health Practitioner (Tobacco Control)
This role will join our growing tobacco control team, which is expanding following recent Government funding awarded to develop our Smokefree Generation programme. The focus of this permanent role will be to provide system leadership, engagement with stakeholders and developing capacity across Devon to increase the number of people seeking support to stop smoking. The postholder will lead and support operational activity within our Smokefree Generation programme, which may include; liaising with our stop smoking services, developing our Swap to Stop scheme, supporting partners to develop their capacity to provide stop smoking support and contributing to the regional tobacco control programme. The initial Smokefree Generation programme is 5 years, after this point this role will support core public health work across our health improvement team.
Post 2 - Advanced Public Health Practitioner
Due to internal deployment with our wider Public Health team, we are recruiting to a fixed term role focusing on cardiovascular disease prevention, living well/aging well and food projects. There are a number of exciting programmes in early stages of development, which now need a highly motivated individual to support and lead their progression, expanding the opportunities to reach our most at-risk populations. These include the emerging work around aging well, place-based health and wellbeing projects and healthier weight. This role will also support the One Devon CVD Prevention network and play a leading role in updating and aligning our public facing digital communications.

About you
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals, preferably with a background in tobacco control and/or smoking cessation (for post 1) or a background in health and wellbeing improvement/prevention (for post 2).
The following skills and attributes would be essential in these roles:

2. Strong interpersonal, diplomacy and communication skills
3. Experience of working in a complex system
4. Demonstrable track record of achieving positive outcomes and being able to evaluate and measure success
