We are looking for a highly motivated Mental Health Nurse to join our team as an Operational Manager for the Brent Early Intervention Service and the Depot/Wellbeing clinic. This is an exciting role created to support adults and young adults in the community with mental health problems.
The successful candidate will be a forward thinking highly visible leader, with a commitment to the development of services. You will be an experienced nurse and have significant experience at band 7 or above to be eligible to apply for this opportunity.
This role will provide Operational Management of Brent Early Intervention Service providing support to individuals experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis. You will be working alongside the Early Intervention team leads providing Operational oversite of the service. The role will also cover the Brent Wellbeing Service providing Depot and Clozapine clinic input to service users. This service is staffed by experienced nursing staff providing walk in and home visit depot administration to service users and those prescribed clozapine.
As an Operational manager you will have developed leadership skills as a Band 7 or Band 8a which you will bring to the post. This is an excellent opportunity combine clinical and Operational skills, providing both management and clinical leadership.
Main duties of the job
To provide leadership and Operational oversight of the Brent Early Intervention Service and Wellbeing Service (depot and clozapine clinics). The main duties of the role are:
1. To provide Supervision and support to the clinical team leaders in the Early Intervention service.
2. To provide clinical oversight and support to Nurses working in the Depot and Clozapine clinics
3. To support the service to meet their Key Performance Indicators including assessment, care planning (DIALOG+) risk assessment and ensure the EIS team continues to deliver against the NCAP/NICE guidelines.
4. To ensure staff receive regular supervision and are well supported promoting staff wellbeing and retention.
5. To ensure local and organisational policy is adhered to within the services.

Service and clinical leadership
• Lead and operationally manage the Early Intervention Service and Brent Wellbeing team, ensuring the EIP model and agreed operational policies are implemented and priorities met.
• Ensure high-quality, evidence-based assessment, care planning (including DIALOG+ and Personalisation) and safe discharge for service users with complex needs, within relevant legislation (MHA, MCA, DoLS, Care Act) and safeguarding frameworks.
Staff management and supervision
• Line manage CPNs, Social workers, OT’s and unqualified staff and support psychologists, providing clinical and managerial supervision, appraisal, and performance management.
• Lead recruitment, manage attendance, sickness, disciplinary and grievance matters, authorise leave and training, and ensure staff competence through training, governance and reflective practice forums.
Multidisciplinary and interagency working
• Promote MDT working with consultant psychiatrists and other disciplines, ensuring coordinated, responsive team functioning.
• Maintain strong liaison with GPs, inpatient and assessment teams, housing and supported accommodation, police, primary care, local authority and voluntary sector services to support integrated care and effective discharge.
Service development, policy and governance
• Contribute as a member of the local management team to planning, developing and evaluating the Early Intervention and wellbeing clinics, including identifying resource needs and addressing service gaps.
• Develop, implement and review team operational policies, ensure compliance with CNWL policies (including diversity and safety), participate in clinical governance and care quality forums, and monitor service performance.
Resource, budget and information management
• Manage the pooled operational budget and other resources, ensuring expenditure is controlled and aligned with protocols.
• Oversee robust administrative systems for case recording, data quality and monitoring of referrals, allocation, caseloads, risk management and clinical review processes.
Direct clinical and professional role
• Maintain a high level of personal clinical competence, providing direct clinical work where appropriate and expert advice/consultation to the team.
• Ensure practice adheres to professional codes, confidentiality, health and safety, infection control and equal opportunities requirements, and participate in research and evidence-based practice initiatives
