Paraeducator – Magnet Schools – CREC Resource Group

CREC Resource Group (CRG) is seeking dedicated Paraeducators to join our team! We staff Paraeducators for CREC Magnet Schools throughout Hartford County. As a Paraeducator, you will provide small group or one-to-one support to elementary, middle, and high school students throughout the school day.
Interested candidates must complete a Frontline application to be considered.
Position Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with helping students meet instructional goals and objectives or to assist with other duties in the school that add to the overall quality of the school or the educational experience of the students. Experience working with students with aggressive behavior utilizing behavior management techniques is required. PMT certification is preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
2. Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
3. Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
4. Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
5. Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
6. Help control behavioral and emotional outbursts by employing techniques such as reward systems, behavior checklists, and time-outs.
7. Supervise students in non-instructional areas, such as lunch programs, bus duty, playground, corridors, study halls, and other related areas.
8. Accompany students on field trips to assist with supervision.
9. Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, and achievement of IEP objectives.
10. Contribute to the IEP process as appropriate and serve as a resource for the evaluation team.
11. Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living to maximize their participation in school or learning activities.
12. Follow all safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
13. Experience working with students with aggressive behavior utilizing behavior management techniques is a must.

Salary Range: $19.66 – $20.54
Qualifications Profile: Candidates must meet one of the following:
1. High school diploma plus two years of college credit
2. Associate of Arts degree
3. Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
