Job Description:
At Leonardo, we have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Supportability Engineer.
The team you will join is part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for both the production of existing radar systems and the design and development of our next-generation radar products. You will ensure that the supportability characteristics of our products align with our customers' operational and support needs.
We offer an environment to develop your technical skills across various radar product design phases, helping us deliver world-leading, highly reliable, and capable integrated sensor systems globally. Our diverse team of engineers and technical specialists brings extensive experience to collaborate, innovate, and deliver top-tier solutions.
The Supportability function is integral to all program stages—from Bid, Development, and Production to Customer Support and Disposal. We incorporate engineers from disciplines such as Electronic, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering to strengthen the Supportability Team.
You will be actively involved in analyzing, assessing, and influencing the supportability features and performance of Leonardo's next-generation products.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Engaging with Integrated Project Teams to deliver Supportability Engineering work packages covering Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability (RM&T) analysis, Support Strategy planning, and modeling.
2. Performing RM&T analysis on integrated systems using various analytical techniques.
3. Collaborating with systems, mechanical, software, RF, electronics, and safety engineers to identify and prevent support-related issues before reaching the customer.
4. Growing and developing the supportability community and core skills base.
5. Contributing to process and procedural improvements to reduce costs and mitigate failure impacts.
6. Understanding customer operational needs to guide the development of suitable equipment for future environments.
7. Participating in IPT and Engineering Unit decision-making processes.
8. Supervising engineers and providing guidance on the total cost of ownership throughout the product lifecycle.
9. Mentoring, coaching, and developing junior team members.
10. Providing domain expertise for customer and user engagement and product roadmaps.
Qualifications and experience:
Ideally, you will have a degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline and industry experience, particularly in defense or related fields. Specific experience areas of interest include:
* Knowledge of RM&T analysis techniques across electronic, power, RF, mechanical, and mixed systems.
* Equipment Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
* Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) data analysis
* Safety hazard identification and fault tree analysis
* Support strategy planning, LORA, and support modeling tools (e.g., OPUS)
* Bids and proposals support in a 'Merchant Supply' environment
* Statistical data analysis skills
* Building beneficial relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers, and suppliers
Our team uses tools such as PTC Windchill Risk and Reliability, Reliasoft, OPUS, Simlox, Matlab/Simulink, Jira, and Python. Familiarity with these tools is advantageous but not essential.
