Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Bridge Engineer to join our growing highways and structures team. This is a great opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and highway schemes while playing a key role in project management, client engagement, and team development.
Responsibilities
* You’ll deliver and check concept to detailed designs, prepare calculations, reports, and drawings, and provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
* You’ll manage projects from proposal through to delivery, including budgets and programmes, while working closely with clients and stakeholders.
* The role also includes site inspections, planning safe systems of work, and fulfilling CDM duties, including acting as Principal Designer where required.
About you
* Accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* IEng or CEng qualified
* Strong technical background in bridge and highway structures
* Proven experience delivering designs and assessments to UK and Eurocodes
* Good working knowledge of DMRB and MCHW
* Confident using structural analysis software and AutoCAD
* Experience reviewing others’ work and working autonomously
* Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Commercial awareness of NEC contracts and change control
* Able to manage projects, budgets, and programmes effectively
* Collaborative team player with a desire to mentor and grow teams
* Sound understanding of Health & Safety and CDM duties
