Join to apply for the Electrical Fitter role at BRUSH Group
Due to our continued growth, we are looking for electrical fitters to join our Power Solutions division. Directed by the site manager / team leader, you will deliver electrical and mechanical works to the agreed quality, timescales and safety standards. The role will be site‑based within a live substation environment covering sites across the south of England: Lee‑on‑Solent, Southampton, Reading & Rownhams.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in a team, ensuring that the working environment and work practices meet the requirements of the Health & Safety Legislation, conform to the project Health & Safety Plan and meet KUS standards.
* Through discussion with the site team, plan and execute all tasks identified in the works program.
* Able to decipher construction drawings to verify material lists and use experience to plan the task in hand, including assisting in producing the RAMS for the activities.
* Ensure the work carried out is as per the construction drawings, with any changes documented and agreed before implementation.
* Verify and document temporary works are installed as per the design.
* Complete QA documentation for all completed works.
* Act upon unsafe acts or conditions when observed or when reporting to the post holder.
* Carry out the tasks in line with the works program, in a diligent manner, ensuring the work is done efficiently, cost‑effectively and professionally, producing high‑quality work.
* Attend training courses necessary for the development of the skills needed to carry out the tasks performed by the work group and learn how to behave safely.
* Ensure all plant and tool inspections are carried out before use, with all defects documented and reported through the correct channels.
* Ensure materials are used economically and unused materials are returned to stores; arrange for the removal of all scrap materials from the site in a safe manner at the end of each job.
* Monitor the performance of the team, record quantity of work carried out and report shortfalls outside of the line manager’s control.
* Carry out safety inspections as laid down in the contract specific Health and Safety Plan.
* Undertake all duties as skilled, in a reliable, flexible, constructive manner.
* Take direction from line manager in carrying out ad‑hoc projects.
* Attend work for all rostered shifts and overtime turns.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 Electrical installation or equivalent electrical qualification is desirable.
* Full UK driving licence.
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience working within live substation environments is desirable.
* Proven and demonstrable experience working within the electrical trade industry is essential.
* An understanding of safety procedures for working with high voltages is desirable.
* Previous experience in the installation, glanding and terminating of multicore cables.
* Experience in the installation of building services is desirable.
* Experience in the installation of primary HV equipment and plant.
* The ability to work effectively in a team to deliver projects on time.
* Ability to understand construction drawings.
* Knowledge in the production of RAMS.
