We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with ADHD and high-needs Autism. This is an ongoing, long-term, temporary role starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will need strong behaviour management skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, as there is a possibility of experiencing physical outbursts.
Duties as a Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant:
* Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities.
* Implement strategies to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
* Support the child’s social, emotional, and personal development within the school environment.
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to follow individual learning and behaviour plans.
* Assist with classroom routines and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
* Encourage independence, confidence, and positive relationships with peers.
Ideal Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant:
* Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism and ADHD, is highly desirable.
* Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
* A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
* Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teaching staff and external professionals.
* A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential as a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant.
* Relevant qualifications (such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential if you have strong experience.
