What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Senior Building Control Surveyor REF: Bristol 5258288 Pay rate: £52,800.00 per annum Flexible home working (although need to be able to carry out inspections) The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior Building Control Surveyor for a permanent role. (Please note that a pay award is pending). The role includes admittance to a Local Govt pension). It is essential that you have demonstrable building control experience. The role offers an excellent pension scheme, flexible home working (although need to be able to carry out inspections), 25 days A/L rising to 30 days, flexible working, including taking accrued flexi hours amounting to up to an additional 24 days per year, Cost of BSR registration covered. Key Responsibilities: To enforce the Building Regulations and allied legislation in the capacity as a Registered Building inspector under the Building Safety Act 2022. Manage development proposals through the Building Control process from the preapplication stage through to completion on site of applications deposited to the Local Authority or as required as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the Building Safety Regulator Initiate & lead the development team approach for major projects to ensure that the application decision, is lawful To lead on building control matters at the request of the building safety Regulator as part of the multi-disciplinary team on High Risk Buildings; co-ordinating with the various key contacts within the MDT/BSR To ensure that they personally, and any other staff delegated to the post holder’s control, are effectively organised and motivated in order to achieve defined service priorities and performance plan targets. Participate in, and where applicable lead, in corporate, partnership & stakeholder groups to achieve performance plan outcomes on time & within budget constraints What the client is looking for: Hold a valid registration with the BSR at Class 3H. Relevant experience of working in a building control environment Sound awareness of the overall legislative context within which a Local Authority Building Control Body functions, and detailed knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation. Significant experience of working for a Building Control Body, dealing with a broad range of issues and challenges in a major city/urban environment Proven ability to deal with significant workloads in one or more of the following, The Building control plan examination or construction inspection services, Building control enforcement/related public protection functions, Structural engineering or fire engineering services.
