The Role
We are hiring a Senior Sales Manager to take full ownership of our outbound sales strategy, identifying, targeting and winning new business from ideal-fit retail brands who aren't yet aware of Cake. This is a hunter role, focused on opening doors and generating opportunities from scratch, with the support of the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and execute an outbound sales strategy focused on DTC and omnichannel retailers
* Identify and prospect high-potential brands that align with Cake’s strengths and service model
* Use email, LinkedIn, cold outreach and industry events to create opportunities
* Deliver compelling outreach, discovery calls and qualification processes
* Work with leadership to develop offer positioning, pitch decks, and outreach frameworks
* Maintain and update a structured outbound pipeline via CRM
* Collaborate with Directors and Account Leads to scope and price proposals
* Track performance metrics, iterate campaigns, and build a repeatable playbook
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in outbound sales, ideally within a digital agency or SaaS environment
* Strong understanding of eCommerce and retail challenges, ideally DTC and Shopify-adjacent
* Highly proactive, driven by results and unafraid of cold outreach
* Experience selling service-based or consultative solutions to founders or C-suite
* Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal presentation skills
Desirable:
* Familiarity with CRM systems (HubSpot or similar)
* Understanding of agency margin models and pricing frameworks
* Network within eCommerce, retail or DTC startup ecosystem
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will:
* Demonstrate a credible track record of winning new business in eCommerce agencies or closely related SaaS environments where trust not volume drives deals
* Bring a relevant and active network across DTC founders ecommerce leaders and Shopify adjacent ecosystems and know how to turn relationships into revenue
* Be comfortable starting conversations from zero without relying on inbound leads reputation or brand awareness
* Understand how to sell complex service propositions where outcomes process and chemistry matter as much as price
* Show commercial judgement when qualifying opportunities and know when to walk away rather than chase misaligned deals
* Communicate with clarity confidence and restraint especially when speaking to founders CEOs and senior operators
* Be organised enough to build repeatable systems but pragmatic enough to adapt messaging based on real world feedback
* Take personal ownership of results without hiding behind marketing pipelines or leadership presence
* Thrive in an environment where autonomy is high expectations are clear and excuses are not indulged
* Has previously helped define ICPs offers or outbound frameworks not just executed someone else’s playbook
* Is motivated by building something durable not just hitting short term commission numbers
