Ward Clerk – Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board

We are seeking an organised and approachable individual to work as a Ward Clerk within Y Bwthyn Newydd Specialist Palliative Care Unit.
We aim to provide a high standard of care within our ward, and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, has a friendly manner and an excellent work ethic. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will ideally have previous office and front of house experience, ideally within a similar role. Knowledge of Health Board IT systems to include WPAS, Oracle and Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP) would be desirable, although full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be able to use a variety of communication and interpersonal skills and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels throughout the UHB.
* Plan and prioritise own day to day tasks and workload.
* Communicate with patients, colleagues, members of the public and other agencies involved in patient and non-patient care both within the University Health Board or other outside agencies.
* Receive and transmit routine information requiring tactful, persuasive and empathetic skills when dealing with distressed patients and carers in person or by phone.
* Be able to diffuse potentially confrontational situations by using diplomacy, tact and empathy when dealing with patients/relatives and members of the public who may be aggrieved or irate.
* Undertake general reception duties, meeting and greeting clients and visitors.
* Be non-judgemental and portray a professional image at all time representing the University Health Board.

Experience
* Experience of using Databases and Data Entry
* Has previously worked in the NHS or similar environment
Skills
* Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a challenging environment. Good communication and listening skills
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
Knowledge
* Ability to transfer IT skills to new applications
* Educated to GCSE level
* Knowledge of WPAS, WCP
