SEMH Teaching Assistant - Wembley
Join SENDhelp Wembley, England, United Kingdom to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time role with consistent hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Minimum 1 year of SEMH experience is required; experience supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
* Implement strategies to improve emotional regulation, resilience, and behaviour management.
* Assist the class teacher in creating a calm, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
* Collaborate with SENCOs and external professionals to track student progress.
* Use knowledge of trauma-informed practice and de-escalation to support pupils effectively.
What We're Looking For / Qualifications
* A minimum of 1 year experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting.
* A calm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach to supporting behaviour.
* The ability to remain consistent and build strong, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma, exclusion, or instability.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with staff, families, and external agencies.
* A genuine passion for improving the life chances of vulnerable young people.
