We have an exciting role for a Trials Engineer to join our Warheads team to manage and deliver all aspects of a trial campaign. The role will give you the opportunity to work with many different teams around MBDA within the UK and internationally.
Salary: Circa £51,000 - £59,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
As a Trials Engineer in the Complex Warheads Centre of Excellence you will be part of a small team responsible for delivering varied and complex trial campaigns on MBDA UK Missile Programmes. Conducted as part of key product lifecycle stages, campaigns will consist of Performance trials, Insensitive Munition trials and Environmental activities, designed to reduce risk and qualify our products. These trials happen across a range of product levels from simple proof of concept energetic takeover trials and sub-system Warhead trials to full Missile performance firings.
As a Trials Engineer within the Warheads team you will be responsible for delivery of all aspects of a trial campaign, from generating initial requirements, through to conduct of a trial and reporting. This would include preparing documentation and hardware for a trial, specifying and, in some cases, operating instrumentation before post processing and assessing data collected. You will work closely with trial ranges and test facilities, building effective working relationships to ensure successful completion of trials. You will work in accordance with company procedures to ensure all testing is conducted safely, and to the required standard.
You will be expected to travel regularly as part of this role, throughout the UK and occasionally in Europe.
What we're looking for from you:
Essential:
* HNC/HND/Degree qualified in an engineering or science based subject relevant to the role or demonstrable equivalent experience
* Good problem solving skills coupled with a sound fundamental knowledge of general engineering principles
* IT Competence including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Awareness of proving and qualification activities to deliver test evidence to support compliance against requirements
* Ability to demonstrate integrity when conducting a trial to ensure safety is the primary focus
* Determined individuals that are self-motivated and can demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
* Methodical and logical approach, conscientious and safety conscious in all activities
* Be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
* Strong technical writing skills, document suite management skills etc.
Desirable
* Demonstrable experience leading or working as a team in the delivery of projects or trials
* Previous experience working with energetic materials
* Previous experience in different types of munition testing and evaluation including, but not limited to: Performance trials (static and/or dynamic testing), Insensitive Munition Trials, Environmental Trials, Safety Trials
* Previous experience using equipment and techniques relevant to testing and proving (e.g. High Speed data capture, Radiography, Trial Instrumentation, data analysis)
* Previous experience in flight testing, mechanical testing or integration trials for large scale defence/commercial aerospace projects
