Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Position: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Durham, United Kingdom
Salary: £40,000 including car allowance
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates, and budgets for residential development projects.
2. Collaborate with the Quantity Surveying team to manage costs and ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
3. Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide recommendations to optimise project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
4. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to procure materials and services at competitive rates.
5. Monitor project expenditure, track variations, and prepare accurate financial reports.
6. Assist in the valuation of work in progress and the preparation of interim and final valuations.
7. Ensure compliance with industry standards, building regulations, and health and safety requirements.
8. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying.
Qualifications and Skills:
9. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
10. Previous experience in quantity surveying within the construction or residential development sector is desirable.
11. Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
13. Experience using COINS
14. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
15. Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques is advantageous.
16. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
