With a BRCGS Food Safety AA rating, this site based in Antrim area has built a strong reputation for quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. They're proud of their tight-knit, collaborative team and are now looking to bring on a Technical Manager to support ongoing food safety and quality assurance activities.
This is a practical, varied role ideal for someone looking to gain extensive technical knowledge in a high-standards meat processing environment. The Technical Manager will support the day-to-day food safety and quality assurance activities, help maintain compliance with BRCGS and regulatory standards, and ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout operations.
What your day to day will look like:
* Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the site's Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS).
* Carry out routine quality checks, including product, temperature, hygiene and traceability verifications.
* Help prepare for and support external audits (typically BRCGS and regulatory inspections).
* Maintain accurate records and documentation for all technical activities.
* Collect product and environmental samples for testing (microbiological, shelf-life, water, etc.).
* Support in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances, including root cause analysis.
* Participate in internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability) and corrective action tracking.
* Assist with training staff on induction, hygiene, food safety practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Monitor and update product specifications and supplier approvals as needed.
* Work closely with management and production staff to promote a food safety and quality culture on site.
What you'll need to succeed:
* Background or qualification in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related discipline.
* Previous experience in a food production or technical management role (ideally meat or FMCG).
* A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the confidence to work on the factory floor.
* Understanding of BRCGS and food safety standards.
