We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team, working in a UKAS-accredited materials testing laboratory. This hands-on role involves supervising and conducting testing on asphalt, concrete, and soil samples to industry and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out laboratory testing of asphalt, concrete, and soil in accordance with BS EN and UKAS standards.
* Perform a range of tests including:
* Concrete cube compression
* Asphalt binder content, grading & voids
* Soil classification, compaction & moisture content
* Ensure test results are accurate, validated, and reported on time.
* Supervise and support junior lab technicians and assist with training.
* Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration records are up to date.
* Ensure all testing is compliant with ISO 17025 quality standards.
* Liaise with site teams and clients where necessary to clarify test requirements or results.
* Help with internal audits and support UKAS inspections when required.
Requirements: Essential:
* Minimum 2 years' experience in materials testing (asphalt, concrete, or soil).
* Solid understanding of UKAS procedures and ISO 17025 standards.
* Ability to interpret and follow technical testing methods and standards.
* High attention to detail with strong data recording and reporting skills.
* Good communication and leadership abilities.
Desirable:
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Construction Materials Testing or similar qualification.
* Familiarity with LIMs (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
* Experience supervising junior team members or leading shift work.
