EMG Solicitors is an award winning Legal 500 law firm with offices across the North but acting nationally, specialising in Court of Protection, Deputyships, Mental Health Law, Family Law and Mediation, Residential Conveyancing, Dispute Resolution, Employment Law, Education Law and Wills, Trusts & Probate services.

What are we looking for?

We are currently looking to recruit an engaging and proactive IT Trainer to join our firm and support colleagues across six UK offices. You ideally will have 3 plus years experience delivering IT training in a professional environment.

Where will you be based?

This role will be based from our Durham office but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.

How many hours will you be working?

This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, its not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.

A brief overview of the role:

This role works within the Workplaces and IT team. We are seeking an engaging, proactive IT Trainer to join our firm and support colleagues across six UK offices. This role plays a vital part in ensuring colleagues are confident, efficient, and secure in their use of technology.

You will deliver high-quality onboarding, systems training, device adoption support, and cybersecurity awareness. You will also contribute to IT projects and ongoing digital capability improvements across the firm.

Undertaking work

IT Onboarding & Induction Training

* Deliver engaging IT induction sessions for all new starters.
* Provide role-specific training tailored to legal teams, support staff, and managers.
* Ensure new colleagues are confident with all core systems and devices.

Systems Training

* Deliver training on the firms key applications (e.g., practice management, document management, time recording, billing, and Microsoft 365).
* Produce user guides, video walkthroughs, and e-learning content.
* Support upgrades and new system rollouts through planning, documentation, and training delivery.

Device & Hardware Training

* Provide training for:

* Mobile devices (apps, security, best practice)

* Photocopiers and multifunction devices (secure printing, scanning)
* Telephony/video devices (Teams Rooms, headsets)

Cybersecurity Awareness

* Deliver cybersecurity training and support firmwide compliance programmes.
* Provide practical advice on phishing threats, secure data handling, and safe digital behaviour.
* Reinforce cybersecurity best practice through regular targeted sessions.

Project Support & Management

* Contribute to IT-led change projects through user training, documentation, and rollout planning.
* Support user acceptance testing and stakeholder communications.
* Ensure training deliverables are aligned to project objectives.

Training Needs Analysis & Continuous Improvement

* Gather training requirements through regular engagement with the IT Helpdesk, identifying recurring issues or gaps in user knowledge.
* Proactively identify and schedule refresher courses for key systems, processes, and cybersecurity topics.
* Maintain a training calendar and ensure consistent communication with teams and managers.
* Track training attendance, effectiveness, and feedback to continually refine content.

To be able to perform this job you will need.

* As far as experience goes, you will need to have demonstrable experience delivering IT training within a professional services environment, ideally with around three to five years experience in a similar role.
* You will need to have strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint, and be confident supporting colleagues in the effective and secure use of these systems.
* You will need to be an excellent communicator and presenter, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical guidance that colleagues at all levels can easily understand and apply.
* Effective organisational and planning skills will need to be part of your skill set, along with the ability to manage a varied workload, deliver training across multiple offices, and proactively identify opportunities to improve digital capability.
* You will need experience creating engaging training materials in a variety of formats, including written guides, video walkthroughs and digital learning content, and be comfortable supporting system upgrades and new technology rollouts.
* Ideally, you will have experience within the legal sector or another professional services environment, together with familiarity with practice management or document management systems and an understanding of cybersecurity awareness and best practice.
* We are also looking for someone who is approachable, patient and enthusiastic about supporting others, confident communicating with senior stakeholders, willing to travel between our UK offices, and motivated by continuous personal and professional development.
