New to education? We've got a brilliant SEND role for you in Sunderland

Looking to make a difference—but don’t have classroom experience yet?

Whether you’ve worked in care, supported someone with SEND personally, or just have a genuine passion for helping others thrive, we want to hear from you.

Protocol Education is on the lookout for caring, calm, and reliable people to support children with special educational needs in a specialist setting in Sunderland.

What the role involves:

1. Supporting pupils with needs such as autism, SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health), or complex learning difficulties

2. Building trust and creating calm learning environments

3. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff

4. Full-time hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

You don’t need to have worked in a school before—we’ll help you get classroom ready. What matters most is your mindset: patience, empathy, and a real desire to support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
