Are you an experienced automotive professional with a passion for motorsport, classic and high performance vehicles?


Rally Prep has a fine history and pedigree in providing specialist services for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. The company has worked with Toyota Motorsport GmbH, successfully building and running the GT86 CSR3’s in the British Rally Championship and now proudly works with a range of globally renowned specialist manufacturers as well as a wide range of private clients.


Supporting our customers and ensuring they are getting maximum enjoyment from their automotive passion is central to all we do at Rally Prep, whether the source of pleasure is motorsport, track or road orientated.


Rally Prep provides a range of specialist services including:

* Service and Maintenance: Scheduled specialist care for a wide range of motorsport, classic, high performance and prestige vehicles.
* Restoration and Modification: Classic vehicle restoration, modification and maintenance.
* Motorsport Build & Preparation: Including modern and historic specification rally cars and preparing vehicles for hill climb, sprint, racing and track day use.
* Vehicle Build: Bespoke build and test of prototype and low volume series production battery electric and internal combustion engine sports vehicles.


Rally Prep are seeking a dedicated and skilled specialist to oversee our workshop operations and help lead the next phase of growth for our business.


The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in working in motorsport and/or specialist automotive, as well as a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.


You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of project activity at Rally Prep including service and maintenance, motorsport preparation, restoration and specialist build projects, managing the team, maintaining workshop standards, and ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest quality to delight our clients.


The role, supported by the Operations Supervisor and finance team, will include liaising with customers to establish the scope and specification of works to be undertaken, estimating and quoting of project work, scheduling of activities, overseeing service delivery and ensuring works are undertaken to the required levels of quality and timeliness to delight our customers.


The role will also support the Commercial Director in securing new work and growing the business, planning and delivering show/open day and promotional activities and developing relationships with motorsport and enthusiast car clubs.


Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide a point of contact and give specialist advice to customers.
* Produce estimates/quotations for works ranging from low value servicing works to major restoration/full vehicle build projects.
* Oversee parts procurement ensuring all parts are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner (the post holder may also be expected to support/undertake the sourcing of more complex/specialist parts).
* Effectively manage operations to achieve productivity and financial targets.
* Work planning and allocation of resources on a day-to-day basis to ensure customer deadlines are met.
* Maintain and regularly update the Workshop Work Plan.
* Oversee technicians ensuring an appropriate standard of workmanship.
* Support the production of project plans for larger scale projects ensuring works are delivered to plan.
* Manage vehicle build technicians ensuring whole vehicle build projects are completed on time to the required quality.
* Customer liaison for project vehicles providing customers with regular updates on their projects.
* Ensure accurate and appropriately narrated time entries within the workshop time recording system.
* Ensure all workshop operations conform to required Quality, Health, Safety and Environment standards at all times.
* Review and sign off customer invoices.
* Support any other required duties of the business


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Essential:

* Strong sense of pride in quality of service and workmanship.
* Extensive experience and passion for working in the field of motorsport, classic, high performance and prestige motor vehicles.
* Knowledge of specialist automotive supply chain, parts sourcing and ordering.
* Experience of working within and managing a team.
* Comfortable communicating with customers at all levels.
* Proven organisational and administrative skills.
* High standards and attention to detail.
* Proficient use of MS Office suite.


Desirable

* IMI Level 4 or equivalent professional qualification, or experience in relevant automotive discipline.
* Full driving licence and experience of towing with van/race shuttle/trailer.
* On event motorsport experience.
* Automotive/motorsport contacts and industry network.
* Experience of managing vehicle workshops.
* Experience of whole vehicle build and assembly processes.
* Member of motor industry accredited body.
* IOSHH Managing Safely.
* Experience of managing budgets and financial control.
